Comm. 5 Solutions for the Text-Based User (Columbus OH) Private

Description

It can be frustrating for an adult who is fully literate with an intact language system to rely on augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) to communicate. In this interactive discovery lab, we will explore a variety of Tobii Dynavox AAC supports that can be used to help the text-based AAC communicator communicate more efficiently and gain greater independence. You will be presented with a variety of solutions so you can make the most informed recommendations for adult text-based communicators.

Learning Outcomes: Upon successful completion, participants will be able to: 

·        Identify three communication needs that arise from the communication challenges that exist for the adult text-based communicator

·        Explain three features available within AAC supports that work to meet the communication needs of the adult text-based communicator

·        Select an appropriate AAC support to meet a specific need of the adult text-based communicator

Participants are expected to be present for the entire session. Individuals who are not present for the full program will not be recommended for ASHA CEUs. No partial credit will be provided. 

Registration on a computer rather than a mobile device is recommended.
