Description This implementation-based workshop will focus on the emergent communicator and how we can best provide Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) supports and strategies that help them realize their communication potential. Participants will review the stages of pre-intentional and intentional communication. Participants will then learn about low and high-tech AAC communication supports with the goal of moving our emergent communicators toward symbolic communication. Lisa Geary
Lisa M. Geary, M.S., CCC-SLP has over 25 years’ experience in speech-language therapy, teaching, and supervision. She previously served as Clinical Assistant Professor in a university setting where she taught clinical and didactic courses including the graduate augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) class. Lisa also worked for many years in the public school, private practice, and outpatient rehabilitation settings. Lisa is currently a member of the Tobii Dynavox Learning Team where she develops and conducts trainings for professionals and customers.
