Supporting Eye Gaze Access in Grid 3 (Pickerington OH) Private

Description

Being a successful communication partner and advocate for someone who uses eye gaze technology means understanding both the hardware and communication software.  In this course, participants will review the components of eye gaze hardware, understand the steps to calibration, and identify the best settings for eye gaze access in the Grid 3 communication software.  Participants will explore the use of Grid 3 with eye gaze access for all communication ability levels.  Through video case studies, live demonstration, lecture, and hands-on application, participants will learn how to best support eye gaze users and identify troubleshooting solutions.

Learning Outcomes:  Upon successful completion, participants will be able to:  

• describe the rational for using at least one eye gaze calibration setting
• identify an appropriate grid set within Grid 3 to be used for an emergent communicator, a context dependent communicator, and a text independent communicator
• describe or demonstrate one partner support strategy to enhance an eye gaze users’ success with accessing eye gaze content

This course will be offered for 0.3 ASHA CEUs (Introductory level, Professional Area).
