Description Course Description:You are invited to attend and participate in the exploration of the Snap + Core First communication software from Tobii Dynavox. Using lecture and hands-on exploration activities, participants will learn about the communication solutions of Snap + Core First that support communication engagement, literacy and language growth. Techniques for customization, simplification, and implementation will be our focus. Each participant will leave the session with a handful of resources and practical tips that can be used the very next day!
Learning Objectives: Upon completion, participants will be able to: (1)Name three communication tools that can be used to promote language and literacy development with an individual who is using the Snap + Core First communication software. (2) Describe two methods for customizing Snap + Core First communication software to support engagement in routine and novel activities. (3) List three types of positive behavior supports that may be integrated into the Snap + Core First software.

Participants are expected to be present for the entire program. Individuals who are not present for the full program will not be recommended for ASHA CEUs. No partial credit will be provided.

Loyal has prior experience as an Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) evaluator and trainer serving clients of the Frank D. Lanterman Regional Center in Los Angeles and the Assistive Technology Exchange Center (ATEC) in Orange County, California. As a Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) and Assistive Technology Professional (ATP), Loyal served children and adults with Cerebral Palsy, ALS, Traumatic Brain Injury, spinal cord injury, and other medically complex needs focusing on communication and computer access. Loyal’s passion for his clients and AAC technology led him to the Learning Services Team at Tobii Dynavox where he currently supports internal and external customer training and implementation needs as a Learning Consultant.
