Dynamic AAC Goals Grid 3: Overview and Implementation
Writing goals for alternative and augmentative communication (AAC) users can be a challenging component of the intervention process for speech-language pathologists (SLPs). Are we targeting only receptive/expressive language? What should we target next? The free, Dynamic AAC Goals Grid (DAGG) has been used worldwide to help speech-language pathologists collaborate with their support team (e.g., educators, family, related services, etc.) to design an intervention plan for individuals using AAC. We will share the user-tested updates to the DAGG-3 including easy-to-read goals, the addition of literacy, psychosocial, and access goals, an updated prompting hierarchy, and example activities for each goal to help SLPs get started in therapy.
Upon successful completion, participants should be able to:
· State 2 elements of communication competency used in the DAGG.
· State 2 ways to measure and show progress for justification of AAC therapy.
· Select 3 goals from the DAGG for individuals using AAC.
