Description This course, Neurodiversity-Affirming Support for Autistic AAC Users, will explore key characteristics of autism that may affect AAC use. Participants will learn about communication differences, including multimodal communication and part-time AAC use, regulation needs, and motor planning differences. The course will help professionals and caregivers provide supportive, individualized AAC strategies that respect and empower autistic communicators. Through discussion and practical insights, attendees will gain practical tips and tools to foster meaningful communication and connection for autistic AAC users. Caroline Gaddy
Caroline Gaddy, MFA, MA, CCC-SLP is a Learning Consultant for Tobii Dynavox. In addition, she a speech-language pathologist, AAC specialist, disability advocate, and neurodiversity educator. Caroline worked for many years in school settings as a teacher and an SLP. She also worked in medical settings with adult and pediatric populations, and specialized in supporting communication access for people with multiple disabilities. Caroline is passionate about disability justice and inclusion, and firmly believes that communication is a fundamental human right.
