Enhancing Accessible Communication and Curriculum with Boardmaker

Description

Children with disabilities must have access to the general curriculum and a way to communicate to fully receive a Free Appropriate Public Education (FAPE). Boardmaker offers a premade curriculum and easy to use templates that allow educators and therapists to easily modify content and make it accessible for all learners. Now through the Boardmaker 7 Student Center and the Boardmaker Player, students can seamlessly access curriculum and AAC software. In this session, participants will learn how to use Boardmaker curriculum and templates to create and find activities that give students access to the New York State Next Generation Standards. Time to create activities in Boardmaker’s new editor Boardmaker 7 will be provided. Finally, participants will learn how to connect activities to Snap Core First and seamlessly transition between activities and communication software.

Learning Objectives: Upon successful completion, participants will be able to:

1.      Identify 4 ways Boardmaker templates can enhance learning.

2.      Create 6 Boardmaker activities linked to New York State Next Generation Learning Standards.

3.      Use Activities-to-Go to create an activity aligned to New York State Next Generation Learning Standards.

4.      Navigate between Snap Core First and Boardmaker activities.
