Does Tobii Dynavox Still support Windows 10 Pro or Windows 10 Home on my AAC device?
With Microsoft’s end of support for Windows 10 Pro on October 14, 2025, this article provides information on what this means for users, the device models that might be affected, and helpful tips on how to keep your device up to date.
Support for Windows 10 Pro is coming to an end
Microsoft will begin its end of support for Windows 10 Pro and Home on October 14, 2025. This means that after this date, Microsoft will no longer release new features and monthly security updates for this edition. However, Tobii Dynavox will continue to support any affected Tobii Dynavox devices through their end of service and support date. Windows 10 Pro and Home will continue to be licensed and function as normal on Tobii Dynavox devices even after the Microsoft end of support date. Also, Microsoft confirms that while Windows 10 Home and Pro reach end of support on October 14, 2025 (Modern Lifecycle Policy), Defender Antivirus on Windows 10 will continue receiving security intelligence updates at least through October 2028.
Following Microsoft's announcement to terminate support of Windows 10 Pro as of October 2025 we are now making available the option to upgrade to Windows IoT Enterprise (LTSC), henceforth referred to as Windows IoT in the rest of the article.For certain devices, the option to upgrade to Windows 11 Pro is possible.
What is Windows IoT Enterprise (LTSC) and how does it affect my device?
Windows 10 IoT Enterprise LTSC is a specialized edition of Windows designed for medical, assistive, and industrial devices. Unlike consumer versions, it receives essential security and stability, avoiding disruptive feature changes and ensuring long-term reliability. Microsoft continues to support current versions of Windows 10 IoT Enterprise LTSC with monthly security updates through January 2032, making it a secure and dependable choice for the long-term.
How would I know if my device needs to be upgraded or if it possible to be upgraded to Windows IoT?

How can I tell which version of Windows I have?
In your Windows search box, type in “winver” and hit enter. A pop up will appear with information on which version of Windows you have.

Once upgraded to Windows IoT, will these devices continue to be secure as before?
Yes, there are no security risks associated with Windows 10 IoT devices and your devices will have the same level of security as before the upgrade.
How would I know if my system needs to be upgraded to Windows 10 IoT or Windows 11?

Can I update my affected device to Windows 11 on my own?
The affected devices have been tested and certified to run with Windows 10. Some hardware is not compatible with Windows 11. Refer to the chart above to see if there is an upgrade path for your specific device. Tobii Dynavox does not offer support for installing different operating systems.

Can we upgrade to Windows IoT ourselves?
No, we have a special license issued by Microsoft to us as a Microsoft partner, that requires the device to be physically connected to our network and the license pushed to the device. This means the device needs to come to a repair center to be updated.
What happens when Windows 10 Support ends?
Microsoft will not provide feature or security updates; however, the operating system will continue to function. This means that the device will be at greater risk for viruses and malware. It is widely recommended to use a reputable anti-virus software and practice good cybersecurity habits. Microsoft have some recommendations for good practiceshere. It is also recommended to take regular backups of your device.
Which Anti-Virus software should I use?
Microsoft Defender Antivirus is pre-installed and active with real-time protection enabled. According to the product manual (section 2.8 Software).
·Defender is Microsoft’s built-in endpoint security solution and continues to receive cloud-based threat intelligence and definition updates.
·Microsoft confirms that while Windows 10 Home and Pro reach end of support on October 14, 2025 (Modern Lifecycle Policy), Defender Antivirus on Windows 10 will continue receiving security intelligence updates at least through October 2028.
·Microsoft also offers an Extended Security Updates (ESU) program providing critical and important security patches for Windows 10 beyond October 2025. ESU requires version 22H2 or later and applies primarily to organizations, including healthcare environments.
·In certain regions, ESU may be available free of charge for one additional year, covering critical vulnerabilities only.
Do I need to back up my device before these upgrades?
Yes, we strongly recommend backing up your devices before planning any upgrades with the technical support team. You can back up your device either manually or automatically. Please refer to the instructions below:
