“What do I do when the PC Eye 5 installer causes my Communicator 5 to crash upon trying to open?”

 

  1. Uninstall all components of the PC Eye from Programs and Features (Apps and Features)
    1. Tobii Eye Tracking
    2. Tobii Device Drivers For Windows (PCEye5)
    3. Tobii Dynavox Eye Tracking (Eye Tracking Settings software)
    4. Tobii Dynavox Computer Control
    5. Tobii Dynavox Computer Control Updater Service
      1. Remove any leftover EyeAssist and/or Computer Control folders from ProgramData folder.
      2. Remove any leftover EyeAssist and/or Computer Control folders from AppData folder.
  2. If necessary, uninstall all components of Windows Control from Programs and Features (Apps and Features)
    1. Delete the TetServer folder found at C:\ProgramData.
    2. Remove any leftover Windows Control folder(s) from the ProgramData and AppData folders, which could include any of the following:
      1. EyeAssist, Gaze Selection, Windows Control Bundle
  3. If necessary, uninstall all components of Gaze Point from Programs and Features (Apps and Features).
    1. Delete the TetServer folder found at C:\ProgramData.
    2. Remove any leftover Gaze Point folder(s) from the ProgramData and AppData folders, which could include any of the following:
      1. EyeAssist, Gaze Point Bundle
  4. Reboot computer.
  5. Reinstall PCEye5 software version 1.0.1 or newer from - https://www.mytobiidynavox.com/Support/PCEyeCC.

If you have a computer/device/tablet that you have completed the above steps to successfully resolve the issue and then the issue comes up again another time, please complete the following steps:

  1. Be sure to save any work and exit all programs and close all windows.
  2. From the Windows Start Menu, select the Windows Settings gear.
  3. Select Apps.
  4. Next to Sort by, select Install date.
  5. Select Microsoft Visual C++ 2015-2019 Redistributable (x86) - 14.27.29112.
  6. Select Modify.
  7. Select Repair.
  8. Select Restart.
